SHIHARA LAB
Precise Minimalism With This Geometry-Based Fine Jewellery Line
Located in the quiet backstreets of Harajuku, lies an unassuming concrete box structure showcasing Tokyo-based fine jewellery label Shihara‘s delicate goods.
Founded by Tokyo-based designer Yuta Ishihara in 2010, Shihara presents minimalistic designs in fine gold and platinum, including stone detailing that ultimately create “universal and timeless designs”. Find sharp geometric structures to soft and delicate silhouettes, that maintain a lightness to each design. Delicate yet robust, find their 3D diamond series a collection of cube and triangle stud shapes inlaid with pavé stones.
Open in 2014, Shihara Lab is Shihara’s first flagship store. As an intimate space, it covers a mere 21sqm that holds unassuming functional details helmed by the store’s architects. The exposed concrete store interior was designed by Masahiro and Mao Harada of Mount Fuji Architects, who also created the interior display fixtures that include a magnet shelving system easily adjusted according to seasonal displays.
Shihara’s logo, graphic identity, packaging design and art direction was helmed by designer and artist Yoshihisa Tanaka of artist duo Nerhol. Like their jewellery, every detail in their store and identity has been considered – ensuring they are a contemporary classic. Find Shihara in over 300+ stockists and only the best boutique stores worldwide, from Isetan Shinjuku, Selfridges London to Dover Street Market London and Barneys New York, with the full collection found at their flagship Shihara Lab, in the heart of Tokyo.
