Nestled on the charming, cobbled Mariacka street in the heart of Gdansk Old Town surrounded by stalls selling jewellery and the city’s famed amber, find DRUKARNIA. Situated on the former site of a printing factory and where the name is derived from – the Polish word drukarnia – it was one of the first Polish printing houses after the WWII, even printing the city’s first main daily newspaper on the site (Gazetę Gdańską.) Owners Adam and Monika Świerżewski retained the heritage of the site by creating a minimalist, industrial atmosphere that is modern and welcoming. Adam, a graphic designer and lecturer at Academy of Fine Arts, and Monika, an artist and designer, respectfully, have created an easygoing space where you’ll find many of Gdansk creatives inside, all while being just a stone’s throw from the city’s main destinations Basilica Mariacka and the famed Neptune’s fountain.
