The highly-anticipated Yayoi Kusama Museum has finally opened to the public. Designed by Japanese architecture firm Kume Sekkei, the museum was founded by the artist herself, and led by the museums Director Akira Tatehata and the Yayoi Kusama Foundation. Held over an extraordinary 5 floors, the museum is situated in Shinjuku ward’s local suburbs, a striking tall white structure housing the world of the renowned Japanese contemporary artist. The museum opens with it’s inaugural exhibition “Creation is a Solitary Pursuit, Love is What Brings You Closer to Art” featuring her most recent works and a newly unveiled mirror room “PUMPKINS SCREAMING ABOUT LOVE BEYOND INFINITY”, a universe filled with pumpkins inspired by her childhood memory from her family’s seed nursery business.
