MECCA ALEXANDRIA

With An On-Site Roasting Facility & Modern Interior, It's a Suburbian Hidden Gem

Mention the words Mecca Coffee to a Sydney-sider, and you’ll soon realise why it’s known as one of the city’s best coffee destinations. Opening with their first outpost in Sydney’s CBD, and a sister cafe (Soma) in Ultimo, they also are found in the charming suburbs of Alexandria.

With a minimalist facade that opens with a bright blue-framed glass door onto a chic interior, find natural light flooding through the cafe’s high ceilings through to the garden at rear. The spectacular interior is designed by ongoing collaborators Smith and Carmody, who retained the original building’s striking black trusses and paired them with a white interior with additional iron and timber tables and chairs. Mecca’s black and white zebra-like tiled flooring provides a modern touch.

Driven by great coffee (roasted on-site), their food menu includes dishes champion fresh, local ingredients (try The Fall Back, with Iggy’s sourdough, avocado, coriander pesto, fermented chillies, poached egg & sesame); whilst bread and pastries are supplied by Brickfields and Flour and Stone.
