As Ever, The Joy Of Movement & Ease of Pleats Prevails

As dancers outstretched their limbs in mesmerising movement with a poetic flexibility, even jumping onto each other’s shoulders or ascending the nearby walls, the pleated polyester garments they wore gently gravitated together with each progression.

Such garments can only be HOMME PLISSÉ ISSEY MIYAKE, who presented their Spring Summer 23 Menswear collection in Paris. Utilising both models and acrobatic dancers from the Chaillot Theatre National de la Danse, the collection’s subtle tones of colour and considered structurings only compliment their comfort.

Our eyes were drawn instantly to the ease of Look 10, a layered grey vest and shirt combo complimented with the effortlessness of a matching cream trouser and bucket hat. For a bolder statement, the collection’s print-heavy garments seemed to reference organic patterns found in nature — one such with grass reeds sprawling against a bright blue backdrop. Playful and joyous as always, with flexibility and comfort at its core.
