The famed Japanese traditional sweets company Toraya, has a stand-alone salon de the situated in the heart of Paris. Opened in 1980 and recently renovated, the spectacular TORAYA PARIS boutique offers a small retail space and adjoining cafe, with natural light flooding from the large front windows. Inside, enjoy seasonal offerings such as an-mitsu and kakigōri (flavoured shaved ice) in the summer, to their classic azuki red bean yōkan with freshly-whipped matcha green tea throughout the year. The boutique’s concept celebrates all things artisanal, presenting the renowned craftsmanship of the legendary maker and their reputation for excellence in design in a sleek, timber-clad interior designed by Atelier Tsuyoshi Tane Architects. Find a natural palette throughout; cream-coloured upholstered chairs contrast against dark, lacquered tables with bursts of greenery offering a sense of zen. A surprising slice of Japan in the French capital.
