Located in the backend of Omotesando in Aoyama, find the extraordinary Nezu Museum showcasing the private collection of pre-modern Japanese and East Asian art of founder Nezu Kaichirō.

With a striking bamboo entrance designed by architect Kengo Kuma, it presents a zen-like passageway or ‘roji‘ in Japanese, a term usually used for the calm walkways to tea ceremonies. Inside, the gallery presents Chinese Dynasty-era ceramics and artefacts alongside traditional Japanese artworks that are complemented by the vast contemplative and tranquil garden outside.

Each Spring, the Nezu Museum, presents the legendary Iris paintings on six-panel screens (カキツバタ-ズ) by renowned Japanese 18th century Edo period painter Ogata KorinNaturally, accompanied by their rich purple Spring irises in the garden outside. A perfect time to colour-hunt and admire the power of nature.
